Job Title: Senior Biosecurity Practitioner – Northern Region

Responsibilities:

Conduct risk assessments and implement biosecurity protocols across auction venues

Monitor compliance with government regulations and internal biosecurity rules
-
Supervise and train Trainee Biosecurity Practitioners
-
Conduct inspections, surveillance, and reporting of disease or contamination
-
Maintain biosecurity records and compile detailed reports for audits and compliance
-
Coordinate incident response and recovery during outbreaks
-
Ensure compliance with legislation including the Animal Diseases Act, Animal Identification Act, Stock Theft Act, and others
-
Promote biosecurity awareness and continuous improvement within the organization
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Veterinary Science
-
Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
-
Strong knowledge of livestock industry practices
-
Understanding of all relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks
Skills:

Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills
-
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
-
Strong time management and decision-making skills

Ability to work independently and manage teams

Proficient in computer literacy
