    Job Description

    The Employer Audit Officer role focuses on auditing and monitoring employer compliance with labour-related legislation and departmental programmes, specifically the Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA) and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).

    The position involves analysing systems, evaluating programme impact, and supporting advocacy initiatives to improve compliance and awareness of labour laws.

    This role is ideal for candidates with auditing, accounting, legal, or internal audit backgrounds who are interested in public service compliance and enforcement.

    Responsibilities

    Programme Monitoring and Evaluation

    • Monitor implementation of UIA and COIDA programmes
    • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of labour compliance programmes
    • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation processes

    Systems Analysis and Advisory Support

    • Analyse systems related to UIA and COIDA compliance
    • Provide expert advice on sector-specific labour matters
    • Support improvements in compliance systems and processes

    Advocacy and Awareness

    • Support advocacy campaigns related to UIA and COIDA
    • Assist in communicating legislative updates and amendments
    • Promote awareness of labour legislation among stakeholders

    Compliance Monitoring

    • Ensure compliance with key labour legislation, including:
      • Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA)
      • Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA)
      • Public Service Act and Regulations
      • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
      • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
      • Labour Relations Act (LRA)
      • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

    Requirements

    Educational Requirements

    Applicants must have a three-year tertiary qualification in one of the following:

    • Financial Accounting
    • BCom Accounting
    • Accounting
    • BCom Law
    • BCom Commerce
    • LLB
    • Internal Auditing

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum of 1 year functional experience in auditing
