    Job Description

    The Duty Room Operator is responsible for supporting campus security operations by monitoring communication systems, responding to emergency calls, recording incidents, handling enquiries, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and ensuring the secure management of keys and security-related information.

    Key Responsibilities

    Incident and Communication Management

    • Receive and respond to walk-in visitors and telephone enquiries.
    • Capture and update information on the Crime Incident Information System (CIIMS).
    • Escalate incidents to relevant departments when required.
    • Respond promptly to two-way radio communications.
    • Activate emergency response personnel during emergency situations.
    • Contact law enforcement agencies when necessary.

    Security Operations

    • Remain alert and continuously monitor two-way radio communications.
    • Handle and safeguard keys used for opening and closing buildings.
    • Assist with general security operations as required.
    • Provide statements for internal investigations and criminal justice processes.

    Administrative Duties

    • Certify documents.
    • Maintain accurate incident records.
    • Ensure security information is properly documented and updated.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must have:

    • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
    • Valid PSIRA Grade B Certificate.
    • Minimum of one (1) year’s relevant work experience.

    Recommended Qualifications and Experience

    Preference will be given to candidates with:

    • Valid South African driver’s licence (Code 8).
    • Experience working within a Higher Education environment.
    • Certificate in Customer Service.

    Salary

    Annual remuneration package (including benefits):

    • R127,080.97 per annum

    Salary will be determined based on the available budget, qualifications, and relevant experience.
