Overview
Moqhaka Local Municipality is inviting suppliers to provide and apply concrete roof rubber sealant at the Moqhaka Civic Theatre.
The aim is to restore and waterproof the theatre roof using approved sealing materials and application methods to ensure long-term durability and protection against water damage.
Scope of Work
Surface Preparation
- Removal of existing waterproofing material (approx. 574 m²)
- Cleaning and preparation of concrete surfaces
- Bond and cement wash where required
- Application of bonding liquid
Waterproofing Application
- Seal joints between parapet walls and roof slabs
- Apply GEO Stitchbond and Multi Guard Rubber to all joints
- Install 1-metre wide GEO Stitchbond with 75–100mm overlap across roof surface
- Apply Multi Guard Rubber in two coats at 2.5kg/m²
- Optional final coat at 1.3kg/m² if no fabric lining is used
Application Method
- Brushing and spraying methods allowed
- Ensure even coverage and correct spread rates
Technical Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate:
- Experience in roof waterproofing projects
- Knowledge of rubber sealant systems
- Ability to remove old waterproofing materials safely
- Proper application of bonding agents and coatings
- Compliance with safety and quality standards
