Responsibilities:
As the Chief Director: Municipal Intergovernmental Support and Capacitation, the incumbent will play a strategic leadership role, overseeing critical support services aimed at strengthening municipal performance and intergovernmental coordination. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic planning, management, and oversight of the Chief Directorate and its support services
- Development and implementation of the 5-Year Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan, aligned with provincial and national priorities
- Performance monitoring and improvement across directorates under this role, including:
- Disaster Management
- Intergovernmental Relations
- Municipal Finance
- Municipal Monitoring and Performance
- Oversight of the drafting and execution of municipal intervention plans
- Coordination of municipal support and capacity building
- Efficient resource, performance, and asset management within the Chief Directorate
- Ensuring compliance with audit, planning, and reporting processes
- Leadership in employment relations, including training, mentoring, coaching, and staff development
- Establishing effective communication channels and leadership practices across the Chief Directorate
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 7) recognized by SAQA
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a Senior Management Service (SMS) level
- Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme (Nyukela Certificate), endorsed by the National School of Government, is compulsory
- Strong understanding of intergovernmental frameworks, municipal governance, strategic leadership, and public service delivery
- Shortlisted candidates will undergo:

- Practical presentations as part of the interview process
Salary & Benefits:
- Annual Salary: R1 436 022 (Level 14), all-inclusive remuneration package
