Job Title: Assistant Technical Officer

Employment Type: Full-time (Permanent, Level 5)

Responsibilities:
-
Perform and manage routine maintenance tasks at gauging stations (cleaning, painting, and maintaining workshop/personal stores)
-
Carry out betterment works including pipework for electronic equipment, steel and concrete work
-
Assist in water sample collection, maintenance of water sample registers, and dispatching of sampling materials
-
Support data collection, surveys, and current gauging activities
-
Handle procurement of equipment and materials
-
Complete administrative duties such as updating databases, inspection reports, and procurement documentation
-
Engage in people management
-
Travel and work away from home as required
Qualifications:
-
Senior Certificate / Grade 12 (with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy)
-
Valid, unexpired driver’s license
-
Computer literacy
-
Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility
-
Basic knowledge of routine maintenance and betterment work
-
Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), Environment Conservation laws, and the National Water Act (Act No. 36 of 1998)

Understanding of Government Policies and Procurement Systems

Good interpersonal, technical problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills
-
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
