    Position Overview

    The Assistant Officer Security (Distribution) will be responsible for supervising and coordinating security operations aimed at protecting and securing the company’s employees, assets, information, and other interests. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and security of Eskom’s facilities, stakeholders, and surrounding communities.

    The position falls under the SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) department, within the Central East Cluster business unit.     Key Responsibilities

    1. Managing Stakeholder and Customer Relations

      • Building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

    2. Supervising Security Service Providers

      • Overseeing the activities of security contractors and ensuring their services meet Eskom’s high standards.

      • Ensuring that security personnel are trained and prepared to handle any situation that may arise.

    3. Investigating Crime

      • Leading investigations into security breaches, criminal activities, and incidents, with a focus on identifying root causes and preventing future occurrences.

      • Coordinating with local law enforcement agencies when necessary.

    4. Coordinating Emergency Preparedness and Safety Programs

      • Organizing and overseeing safety and emergency preparedness programs, ensuring that all employees are well-trained in handling crises and emergencies.

      • Developing and implementing contingency plans to manage security risks effectively.

    Minimum Requirements

    The role of Assistant Officer Security requires a specific set of qualifications and experience, which are as follows:

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma in Security Management, Policing, or Security Risk Management at NQF Level 6 with a minimum of 240 credits.

    Related Experience:

    • A minimum of 2 years of training or background in security experience is required. This includes practical knowledge of security protocols, risk management, and safety procedures.

    Skills and Competencies:

      • Capability to interact with senior-level management and provide training when necessary.
