     Job Overview

    This role focuses on campus safety and security operations, ensuring quick and effective response to incidents. The Incident Response Officer plays a key role in maintaining a safe environment by responding to emergencies, conducting patrols, and supporting security operations.

    You will work closely with the shift leader and security team to manage incidents, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

     Job Description

    The Assistant Officer: Incident Response Officer is responsible for responding to incidents, conducting preliminary investigations, and maintaining security across campus.

    The role involves monitoring safety risks, managing incident scenes, supporting emergency procedures, and ensuring that all security protocols are followed. It also requires active participation in patrols, inspections, and crisis management activities.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Respond promptly to reported incidents and emergencies
    • Conduct preliminary investigations into incidents
    • Secure and cordon off incident scenes
    • Take photos and gather evidence where required
    • Perform visible patrols and building inspections
    • Identify safety and security risks and report findings
    • Assist in emergency evacuations and protest management
    • Support the shift leader in managing incidents
    • Step in as shift leader when required

     Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Valid Grade B PSIRA Certificate
    • Armed Response Certificate
    • Valid South African driver’s license (Code 8)
    • At least 1 year relevant security/incident response experience

    Recommended:

    • Incident Investigation Certificate
    • Experience in higher education environment
    • Crowd control certification
