Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assistant Director
Oversee and evaluate multiple security contractors; enforce service levels.
Manage contract renewals, cost-benefit analysis, and alignment with budget priorities.
Lead technical project planning, design, and implementation of security systems.
Draft and enforce technical specifications, compliance checklists, and integration requirements.
Coordinate full lifecycle project management for technical security projects.
Oversee CCTV systems, access control (e.g., Impro), alarms, AI-driven security tech, and facial recognition systems.
Maintain and audit server infrastructure and ensure data integrity.
Manage access profiles, card applications, and user authorisation systems.
Supervise technical staff and handle HR processes in line with UFS policy.
Drive procurement aligned with security operational needs.
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting for the Technical Security Services section.
Minimum Requirements (Inherent)
A Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma, BTech, or Postgraduate Certificate on NQF Level 7 OR
A three-year National Diploma on NQF Level 6 in Electrical or Electronics EngineeringValid PSIRA Grade B registration (or commitment to obtain within 6 months) – Attach proof
Valid Code 8 Driver’s License – Attach copy
At least 4 years of relevant working experience related to the outlined duties
Recommendations (Advantageous)
Experience in the higher education sector
Certifications in:
Avigilon or other CCTV systems
Project Management
Impro (IXP400 / Portal)
Registered with ECSA or similar professional body
Knowledge of:
Physical security assessments
Intruder and fire alarm systems
Electric fencing
Advanced access control systems
