    Job Overview

    The Department is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Director: Logistics and Transport Services to manage logistics, transport, fleet, stores and warehousing functions within the Financial and Supply Chain Management Services Directorate.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing logistics management systems and processes, overseeing inventory and payments, maintaining the integrity of LOGIS, and coordinating fleet, travel and transport services.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
    • National Diploma in Logistics Management, Financial Management, Public Administration, Public Management, Purchasing Management, or a related equivalent qualification at NQF Level 6.
    • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in a Logistics and Transport environment.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Logistics Management

    • Implement logistics management systems, procedures and processes.
    • Manage user profiles.
    • Manage asset classifications.
    • Link supplier Item Control Numbers (ICNs), unit prices and related information.
    • Coordinate year-end closure activities for audit purposes.
    • Provide management information, statistics and reports.
    • Monitor the movement of requests.
    • Ensure the integrity of LOGIS.
    • Verify compliance before capturing transactions on LOGIS.
    • Ensure the processing of orders.

    Inventory, Payments and Creditors

    • Manage inventory levels.
    • Initiate payments for goods, services and assets.
    • Ensure payments are processed within 30 days.
    • Validate and reconcile payments for goods, services and assets.
    • Manage creditor reconciliations.
    • Manage stores and warehousing.
    • Ensure effective systems aimed at improving service turnaround times.
    • Promote optimum utilisation of stores and warehousing facilities.

    Fleet and Transport Services

    • Manage fleet services and travel arrangements.
    • Manage Official Flight, Transport and Accommodation Request (OFTAR) requests.
    • Manage Departmental Official Transport Request (DOTR) requests.
    • Reconcile payments against OFTAR and DOTR requests.
    • Administer Government Garage (GG) and subsidised vehicles.
    • Administer fleet and travel management services.

    Salary

    R487,197 per annum (Level 09)
