Job Purpose
The Artisan Production (Electronic Management) is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading electronic security systems within correctional facilities. The role also includes manufacturing and assembling electronic components, training offenders and apprentices, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and security standards, performing administrative duties, and managing technical resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electronic Security Systems
- Install electronic security systems.
- Maintain electronic security equipment.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electronic systems.
- Test electronic installations.
- Ensure security systems operate effectively and reliably.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
2. Electronic Manufacturing and Installation
- Manufacture electronic components.
- Assemble electronic control boxes.
- Install electronic wiring and equipment.
- Support new electronic infrastructure projects.
- Ensure installations comply with technical specifications.
3. Maintenance Services
- Perform routine maintenance on electronic systems.
- Inspect electronic equipment regularly.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures.
- Minimise system downtime.
- Maintain operational readiness of security infrastructure.
4. Training and Skills Development
- Train offenders in electronic trade skills.
- Mentor and supervise apprentices.
- Provide practical technical instruction.

5. Administration
- Perform administrative duties related to electronic maintenance.
- Prepare technical reports.
- Maintain maintenance and repair records.

- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
- Adhere to departmental security procedures.

7. Resource Management
- Manage tools, electronic equipment, and materials.
- Monitor stock and resource usage.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Electronic Management/Electronics) underwritten by the Manpower Training Act (Red Seal).
- A valid driver’s licence.
