Purpose of the Role
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and supporting practical workplace learning opportunities for Radiography students. The role ensures that students gain relevant clinical experience through placements while maintaining relationships with healthcare facilities and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Work Integrated Learning Coordination
- Assist with the implementation of Radiography WIL programmes.
- Monitor and assess student participation in workplace learning.
- Ensure students meet programme requirements during placements.
- Support continuous improvement of WIL activities.
Student Placement Management
- Coordinate placement of Radiography students at clinical training sites.
- Monitor student progress during workplace training.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of placement opportunities.
- Address placement-related challenges and concerns.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate WIL records and documentation.
- Manage student placement databases and schedules.
- Process and monitor placement-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with institutional and professional requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with hospitals, clinics, healthcare facilities, and employers.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders.
- Identify and secure suitable placement opportunities.
- Facilitate communication between students, employers, and the university.
Reporting and Quality Assurance
- Compile and submit programme reports.
- Monitor programme outcomes and placement success.
- Contribute to programme evaluation and improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
Qualifications
- Professional Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 8) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ teaching, lecturing, or industry experience relevant to Radiography.
Professional Registration
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Radiographer.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel to clinical placement sites and stakeholder locations.
