Job Overview / Purpose
The Warehouse Area Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision and management of warehouse operations within the freezer, chiller, and dry storage areas. The role focuses on controlling stock age, minimizing breakages and damages, and ensuring efficient stock handling through put-away, replenishment, and stock rotation.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, product quality, safety standards, and overall warehouse performance while leading and developing warehouse staff in line with Econo Foods’ HO HOLA culture.
Key Responsibilities

Manage stock age and enforce effective stock rotation to prevent expired or obsolete stock

Monitor, control, and reduce breakages and damages in freezer, chiller, and dry storage areas

Supervise warehouse operators involved in put-away, replenishment, and stock rotation

Train, guide, and support warehouse staff to ensure compliance with SOPs and safety standards

Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with other departments to prevent stock shortages or overstocking

Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations

Analyse operational data and performance metrics to improve productivity and efficiency

Coordinate inbound and outbound warehouse operations with cross-functional teams

Compile and submit reports on stock age, losses, and operational performance

Enforce PPE usage and maintain a safe working environment

Manage staff performance, time and attendance, leave planning, and industrial relations matters

Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings
-
Contribute to achieving departmental and organizational performance targets
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
-
3–5 years’ proven experience in a similar warehouse supervisory role
-
FMCG Retail experience (preferred)

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
