Job Description
VKB Group is seeking a hardworking, reliable and physically fit individual to fill the position of Temporary Packer at its VKB Milling facility in Frankfort, Free State.
The successful candidate will be responsible for packaging milled products, ensuring correct product handling, palletising and storing finished goods, and maintaining food safety and quality standards. The role also involves stock handling, loading and offloading, housekeeping, and supporting daily production operations.
This six-month fixed-term contract is suitable for an individual who enjoys practical work, pays attention to detail and can work effectively in a team within a fast-paced milling and food production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Package milled products according to company procedures and specifications.
- Ensure that the correct packaging materials are used.
- Prevent the mixing of different milled products during packaging and storage.
- Bag, package, palletise and store products in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain food safety and workplace safety standards.
- Assist with stock handling, loading and offloading activities.
- Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties.
- Keep the working environment clean, safe and organised.
- Report packaging defects and quality concerns to the relevant supervisor.
- Support production targets and operational requirements as needed.
- Handle products carefully to minimise errors and maintain quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4.
Experience and Other Requirements
- Experience in loading and offloading stock.
- Experience maintaining a clean and organised work area.
- Exposure to stock control activities.
- Ability to perform physically demanding manual labour.
- Ability to read and understand English.
- Willingness to work seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday, as required.
- Willingness to work night shifts.
