Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of underwriters to develop a profitable portfolio of risks

Allocate work based on complexity and underwriter mandates
-
Oversee data entry, processes, and workload management with targets and priorities

Review policy information, quote submissions, endorsements, and renewals to ensure correct implementation

Liaise with Sales teams to maintain high customer satisfaction and incorporate feedback
-
Represent the underwriting support team in governance groups and coordinate audits

Manage compliance reporting for Specialty and RI lines monthly

Ensure statutory and legislative knowledge is current for risk mitigation and customer service

Maintain adherence to organizational policies and improve operational efficiency

Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders

Promote a culture of learning and high performance within the team

Manage the team’s performance and professional development
Qualifications:
-
Matric and/or equivalent
-
Diploma or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification in general insurance
-
3 – 5 years’ experience in Commercial Underwriting / Insurance Industry

1 – 2 years’ experience managing a team of underwriters (advantageous)

NQF Level 7 Degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent
