Open Academic Positions: Architecture
Post 1: Lecturer in Architecture (50%–100% FTE)
Reference: LECTURER (50–100%) (AC.08.4)
Purpose of the Position:
To contribute to architectural design, construction studios, or technical courses, and to lead or collaborate in the Campus Innovation Laboratory (CIL). The successful candidate will engage in design-research teaching and promote socially, environmentally, and culturally inclusive approaches to architecture.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Professionally accredited M.Arch (Prof) degree.

PhD is an advantage.
-
Professional registration with SACAP (or eligibility for registration).
-
At least 5 years’ post-registration professional experience.

Proven record of both professional practice and academic teaching.
Key Competencies and Requirements:

Ability to provide conceptual and detailed architectural design feedback.

Experience in design-build culture, heritage projects, or public space rehabilitation.
-
Demonstrated engagement in community-based design, sustainable practices, and use of recycled materials.
-
Evidence of research output, such as exhibitions, conference participation, publications, or grant acquisition.

Mentoring capability for early-career academics and students.

Familiarity with architectural software and sustainable design technologies.
Additional Advantages:

Experience teaching architectural structures or professional practice courses.

Post 2: Lecturer in Architecture (20%–30% FTE, Part-Time)

Purpose of the Position:
To contribute to architectural design or construction studio teaching while maintaining active engagement in professional architectural practice. The position is ideal for practitioners who wish to share real-world knowledge with students.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Professionally accredited M.Arch (Prof), or a B.Arch plus a Master’s degree in a related field.

Professional registration with SACAP (or eligibility for registration).

Minimum 5 years’ post-registration professional experience.

Ongoing involvement in architectural practice.

Strong conceptual design and architectural detailing abilities.
