Job Overview
The role involves selling and managing grain contracts on the South African Futures Exchange (SAFEX).
The successful candidate will oversee the execution of SAFEX futures contracts, risk management, and compliance with all exchange regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Fulfil Contractual Obligations under SAFEX rules by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of agricultural commodities.

Manage delivery logistics, ensuring commodities are:

Stored at registered silo locations,
-
Meet the required quality and quantity standards.

Provide delivery notices and valid SAFEX silo receipts to buyers.
-
Maintain margin deposits (collateral) with brokers/clearing houses to cover potential losses from price fluctuations.

Monitor and manage price risks in line with SAFEX trading regulations.

Ensure strict compliance with SAFEX procedures and delivery standards.

Avoid defaults — ensure timely deliveries and adherence to contractual terms to prevent penalties.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
-
Minimum 2 to 10 years of relevant experience in the grain trading or agricultural commodities sector, preferably within the Free State region.
Skills & Competencies:

Fluency in English and Afrikaans (spoken and written).

Solid understanding of SAFEX trading, silo management, and commodity logistics.
-
Strong negotiation, communication, and administrative skills.
-
Analytical ability to manage market risk and futures contracts effectively.
Qualification:

Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Commerce, or Trading) will be an advantage.
