Job Overview
Clicks Welkom Shopping Centre is seeking a qualified and customer-focused Pharmacist Assistant to join its dispensary team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care services within their scope of practice, assisting customers with general health advice and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the dispensary.
The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, integrity and compliance with applicable pharmaceutical standards and company procedures.
Job Purpose
The Pharmacist Assistant will provide pharmaceutical care services within the applicable scope of practice while performing daily dispensary administration in accordance with the company’s Standard Operating Plans (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high standards of customer service and pharmaceutical care.
- Assist customers with general health advice within the applicable scope of practice.
- Perform efficient dispensary administration.
- Maintain accurate stock control and administration.
- Assist with the repacking of medicines.
- Perform accurate compounding as required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the dispensary.
- Ensure merchandise and product displays are maintained to the required standard.
- Follow company Standard Operating Plans and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable pharmaceutical and legal requirements.
- Perform additional duties as required by operational needs.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics – Essential.
- Applicants must meet the applicable Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) requirements for their level as a Pharmacist Assistant, including:
- Qualified Pharmacist Assistant
- Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant
- Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistant
Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should have:
- Product knowledge, particularly regarding the health aisle and over-the-counter (OTC) products.
- Knowledge of South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) requirements and relevant pharmaceutical legislation.
- Strong customer-service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- High level of integrity.
- Strong commitment to ethical working practices and compliance.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic calculation skills.
- Knowledge of IT business operating systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
