Objective
Appoint a qualified service provider to supply, install, and manage smart water and electricity meters, improving billing accuracy, remote monitoring, and infrastructure efficiency.
Scope of Work
- Supply smart prepaid meters (water & electricity)
- Install, replace, and upgrade existing meters
- Enable remote reading (AMR / smart systems)
- Provide meter data management & billing systems
- Install bulk meters and infrastructure
- Offer maintenance, calibration & fault management
- Train municipal staff and end-users
- Support local job creation initiatives
Key Technical Requirements
- Compatibility with STS vending system
- Remote communication (GPRS / cloud-based systems)
- Leak detection & real-time monitoring
- Compliance with standards:
- SANS 474
- NRS 049
- IEC / NRCS / ICASA certifications
- Secure, scalable cloud-based data system (MDMS)
- High system reliability with backup/disaster recovery
