    Job Overview

    The Area Manager / Sales and Technical Representative is responsible for driving sales growth, managing key client relationships, and providing technical agricultural support to growers within the Free State region. This role combines commercial sales responsibility with hands-on technical advisory support, requiring strong crop knowledge, regional familiarity, and a mature, professional approach to customer engagement.

    The successful candidate will work closely with farmers, offering product recommendations, technical guidance, and tailored solutions while expanding market presence and achieving sales targets. This position suits an experienced agricultural professional with strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of local farming practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and grow sales within the assigned Free State territory

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local growers and key stakeholders

    • Provide technical advice and product support to farmers

    • Promote and sell agricultural products aligned with crop needs

    • Identify new business opportunities and expand market share

    • Conduct farm visits, field demonstrations, and trials where required

    • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs

    • Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective territory management

    • Prepare sales reports and provide feedback to management

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric (Grade 12)

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in agricultural sales

    • Agricultural qualification (advantageous)

    • Strong technical knowledge of one or more of the following crops:

      • Maize

      • Potatoes

      • Sunflower

      • Soybeans

      • Groundnuts

    • Familiarity with the Free State region and local growers (strong advantage)

    • Valid driver’s licence

    • Reliable personal transport
