Job Overview
Absa Bank is seeking a Specialist: Credit Analyst to support the credit risk lifecycle for Growth Business clients. The role focuses on conducting comprehensive credit risk assessments, managing and mitigating credit risk, and ensuring that all credit decisions align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will contribute to responsible lending, shared business growth, and strong governance by providing data-driven insights, supporting the credit sanctioning process, and maintaining high standards of customer and risk management within the bank’s credit framework.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk & Risk Management
Conduct comprehensive and high-quality credit risk assessments and reviews
Proactively identify, assess, and manage credit risks associated with client portfolios
Support the credit sanctioning process to enable sound and responsible credit decisions
Develop and apply data-driven credit risk strategies
Ensure credit exposure remains within approved risk appetite
Data & Systems Management
Produce, analyse, and interpret management information (MI) related to credit risk
Provide insights to management to support decision-making and portfolio performance
Ensure accurate and timely use of credit systems and risk tools
Governance & Compliance
Ensure adherence to Absa’s credit philosophy, internal policies, and procedures
Comply with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
Maintain strong governance standards throughout the credit lifecycle
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Investigate and resolve escalated customer complaints related to credit matters
Engage with internal stakeholders to support efficient credit processes
Balance customer needs with prudent risk management principles
