    Job Description

    The Junior Customer Engineer is responsible for providing hardware support, installations, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting services to clients while ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved.

    The role involves both onsite and remote technical support, making it suitable for someone with hands-on hardware and systems support experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    Hardware and Systems Support

    • Install and remove hardware and software.
    • Maintain hardware configurations and documentation.
    • Support operating systems and installed software.
    • Ensure systems operate effectively and efficiently.

    Technical Troubleshooting

    • Perform routine diagnostic and repair activities.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
    • Support technicians remotely using customer support tools.
    • Assist with problem resolution and system maintenance.

    Configuration and Documentation

    • Maintain configuration management systems and CMDB records.
    • Follow installation plans and technical procedures accurately.
    • Ensure compliance with agreed service standards.

    Customer and SLA Support

    • Deliver support according to contract service levels.
    • Ensure timely completion of support tasks.
    • Provide customer-focused technical service.
    • Drive SLA performance and service delivery.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants should have:

    • NQF Level 4 / Grade 12 qualification.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in:
      • Hardware installations
      • Technical support
      • Retail ICT environments

    Preferred Certifications

    The following certifications would be advantageous:

    • CompTIA certifications
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
    • Linux certifications such as:
      • Linux LPIC 1 or 2
      • Certified Linux Administrator
      • CompTIA Linux+
