Job Description
A rapidly growing organisation is seeking a skilled Sr. Statistical Programmer to join its on-site team in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will develop and validate statistical programming specifications and programs, generate CDISC-compliant datasets and statistical outputs, and contribute to innovative automation projects.

Primary Responsibilities
The Sr. Statistical Programmer will be responsible for:
- Reviewing study documentation, including protocols, CRFs and Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs).
- Developing and reviewing statistical programs using SAS and/or R.
- Producing CDISC-compliant SDTM and ADaM datasets.
- Performing validation and quality control of programs, datasets and statistical reports.
- Developing and reviewing CDISC SDTM and ADaM mapping specifications.
- Producing and reviewing Tables, Figures and Listings (TFLs) according to the SAP.
- Reviewing datasets for compliance issues and documenting identified findings.
- Generating and reviewing submission documents, including define.xml, SDTM annotated CRF and reviewers’ guides.
- Developing utility macros and efficient code to improve programming processes.
- Working effectively with project teams to ensure assigned work is completed on time and within budget.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable SOPs and guidelines.
- Contributing to software development projects focused on automating the end-to-end results creation process.
- Working with CDISC standards and automation initiatives from SAP through to CSR.
- Adhering to company and client policies and procedures.
Requirements
Candidates should have:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent with relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications and at least 3 years of SAS/R programming experience; or
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of SAS/R programming experience.
- Proficiency in both SAS and R programming.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of CDISC standards.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- The ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects.
- The ability to work effectively within project teams and meet deadlines.
Advantageous Experience
The following will be considered an added advantage:
- Familiarity with CDISC 360i and the Analysis Results Standard (ARS).
- Previous software development experience.
- Experience with automation projects, including macro automation and RPA.
- Responsible and effective use of AI tools to improve efficiency.
