Job Overview
CBRE Excellerate is seeking a skilled and dependable Handyman to provide general building and facilities maintenance across multiple client sites in Kroonstad.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repair work, supervising a small on-site team, responding to maintenance call-outs, and ensuring that facilities are maintained to the highest standards while complying with health, safety, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Perform general building maintenance and repair work across multiple client sites.
- Supervise and support on-site maintenance team members.
- Allocate maintenance tasks and ensure work is completed to the required standard.
- Mentor and guide junior maintenance staff.
- Assist the Electrical, HVAC, and Handyman teams when required.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance call-outs and ad hoc repairs.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly site inspections in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Complete digital job cards, maintenance reports, supplier invoices, and delivery documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Participate in standby duties when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in general building and facilities maintenance.
- Experience supervising or coordinating a maintenance team.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel between client sites.
- Ability to use smartphones and mobile applications for job cards, reporting, and maintenance checklists.
Advantageous Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A trade-related qualification or technical certificate in building maintenance, construction, or a related field.
Technical Skills
Applicants should have practical experience in:
- Carpentry
- Painting
- Ceiling repairs
- Drywall installation and repairs
- Basic masonry
- Welding
- Plumbing
- Office furniture repairs
- Carpet repairs
- Blind repairs
- Tiling
- Lamp replacement (lamping)
