Job Overview
Join SANBS as a Donor Care Officer responsible for collecting safe, high-quality blood products, providing donor care, and ensuring full compliance with clinical, safety, and operational standards at both fixed and mobile blood drives.
Key Duties
Blood Collection & Donor Care
Perform donor assessments and phlebotomy
Provide donor education, care, and post-donation support
Handle adverse reactions and emergencies (First Aid/CPR)
Customer & Stakeholder Service
Welcome donors and guide them through the process
Address complaints and improve donor experience
Assist with donor recruitment and education
Operations & Compliance
Prepare and manage equipment and consumables
Ensure accurate documentation and SOP adherence
Manage medical waste and maintain safety standards
Team Support & Leadership
Act as Clinic Supervisor when required
Participate in staff meetings and assist with training
Monitor staff compliance with SANBS procedures
Requirements
Education: Diploma or Degree in General Nursing Sciences
Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Professional Nurse
License: Valid Code B/EB manual driver’s license
Skills:
Knowledge of SANBS protocols
Familiarity with blood transfusion standards in South Africa
Strong communication and teamwork skills
