Job Description
The Attendant will be responsible for maintaining the sieve room and ensuring adequate spare stock levels. The role also involves assisting with sifter maintenance, sieve stretching and general plant maintenance.
The successful candidate will support milling operations by maintaining equipment, assisting with cleaning and maintenance activities, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained, and working closely with the Milling team to meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and maintain spare stock levels.
- Perform sieve stretching.
- Assist with plansifter and purifier maintenance.
- Liaise and cooperate with the Milling team regarding operational requirements.
- Conduct safety and cleanliness inspections.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
- Adhere to all safety requirements and procedures.
- Assist with bin-dipping tasks.
- Clean the mill area and assist with clearing mill chokes.
- Provide relief support in rework mixing and bran and bulk loading.
- Perform general plant maintenance duties as required.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or a similar relevant qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be considered based on applicable SETA accreditations.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
Experience
- At least 6 months’ experience in a similar environment will be advantageous.
- Experience in a milling, manufacturing, supply chain or plant environment would be beneficial.
Additional Requirements
- Computer literacy.
- A valid Forklift Licence will be an advantage.
- Ability to follow food safety, hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with the Milling team.
