Main Purpose of the Position
To develop academic learning materials, present lectures in allocated Health Sciences subjects, assess student performance, participate in research activities, provide administrative support, and engage in community service projects related to the department’s teaching and research objectives.
Subject Fields

- Somatology and Beauty Therapies
- Psychology
- Anatomy
- Physiology
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching, Learning and Assessment
- Develop and update learning materials and study guides.
- Present lectures, tutorials and practical sessions.
- Facilitate student learning using appropriate teaching methods.
- Prepare assessments, tests, assignments and examinations.
- Ensure quality teaching and learning practices.
2. Student Evaluation
- Assess and evaluate student academic performance.
- Mark assignments, practical assessments and examinations.
- Provide constructive feedback and academic guidance.
- Monitor student progress and support student success initiatives.
3. Research
- Participate in research and scholarly activities.
- Contribute to publications, conference presentations and innovation projects.
- Remain current with developments in the relevant discipline.
- Support departmental research objectives and postgraduate activities where applicable.
4. Administration
- Perform academic and departmental administrative duties.
- Maintain accurate student and assessment records.
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings and committees.
- Assist with quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
5. Control and Organisation
- Coordinate teaching and learning activities within assigned modules.
- Assist with curriculum implementation and programme administration.
- Ensure effective planning and organisation of academic activities.
6. Community Service
- Participate in community engagement and outreach initiatives.
- Apply academic knowledge to community-based projects.
- Support partnerships between the university and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- A relevant Master’s degree (MTech, Master’s, NQF Level 9 or equivalent) in:
- Somatology,
- Wellness Treatment, or
- A related field relevant to the advertised subject areas.
Experience
- At least 2 years of teaching, lecturing, or industry experience relevant to:
- Somatology and Beauty Therapies,
- Psychology,
- Anatomy,
- Physiology, or related disciplines.
Preferred Requirements

- Evidence of progress towards completing a Doctoral degree (PhD/DTech or equivalent).
Research and Scholarly Contributions
