JOB DESCRIPTION
The Administrative Officer is responsible for the overall management of administrative, financial, and human resource functions within a magistrate court office.
The role ensures that court operations run efficiently by managing case administration, support services, financial systems, and compliance with government regulations.
This is a mid-level government management role requiring strong organisational and leadership ability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Office & Administrative Management
- Manage criminal, civil, and family law administration sections
- Oversee daily office operations within the court
- Provide support to case flow management processes
Financial Management
- Manage Vote and Trust Accounts
- Oversee third-party funds
- Ensure compliance with the PFMA and financial instructions
- Manage BAS and financial reporting systems
Human Resource Management
- Supervise and manage HR functions within the office
- Ensure proper staff coordination and performance
- Support team development and leadership functions
Supply Chain Management
- Manage procurement processes for the office
- Ensure compliance with supply chain regulations
- Oversee resource allocation and procurement needs
Case Flow & Support Services
- Support court users and case flow management systems
- Ensure smooth coordination of court-related services
- Assist with administrative support for legal processes
Minimum Requirements
- Three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Public Administration
- Public Management
- Or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ administrative experience
Knowledge Requirements
- Human Resource Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Risk Management
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Financial systems (Vote & Trust Accounts)
- BAS system and departmental financial procedures
- Case Flow Management (advantageous)
