Job Purpose
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the store by driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, managing staff, and maintaining operational and compliance standards. The role aims to build customer loyalty and achieve sales and profit targets while strengthening the Clicks brand.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales and Financial Performance
- Drive and maximize store sales and profitability.
- Execute promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives.
- Promote cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance and achieve sales targets.
2. Store Operations
- Manage day-to-day store operations efficiently.
- Oversee expenses and control costs.
- Ensure effective stock management and shrinkage control.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and administration.
3. Visual Merchandising
- Execute in-store visual merchandising according to brand standards.
- Ensure promotional displays are attractive and effective.
- Maintain the store’s appearance in line with the Clicks brand image.
4. Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Support and motivate staff to achieve performance targets.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist with staff scheduling according to labour policies.
- Ensure departments are adequately staffed.
5. Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Implement customer service initiatives.
- Drive customer loyalty and ClubCard participation.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally.
6. Administration and Compliance
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Manage time and attendance records.
- Ensure employee records are submitted to HR.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
7. Brand Representation
- Promote and uphold the company’s values.
- Ensure Clicks remains the customer’s first choice in health and beauty retail.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Essential:
- Grade 12 with:
- Mathematics (minimum 50%)
- English (minimum 50%)
- Relevant Retail or Business Management qualification (for external applicants).
Desirable:
- Degree in Retail or Business Management.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in an Assistant Store Manager role within retail or FMCG.
- Alternatively, successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
