This permanent management role is based at the Bloemfontein Campus and offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership in one of South Africa’s leading universities.
As a member of the Faculty Executive Management Team, the successful candidate will oversee the Faculty’s administrative, operational, financial, governance, and academic support functions while ensuring compliance with university policies and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership and operational management of the Faculty’s administrative and professional support services.
- Managing financial planning, budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and resource allocation.
- Leading faculty governance, policy implementation, compliance, quality assurance, and risk management processes.
- Managing and developing professional and administrative staff through performance management and talent development.
- Overseeing academic administration, including admissions, registration, examinations, graduations, and student records.
- Building strong relationships with academic departments, students, professional councils, and external stakeholders.
- Driving operational excellence through effective management of systems, facilities, infrastructure, and continuous process improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- An Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Management, Management, Commerce, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in senior academic administration within a higher education environment.
- At least 5 years’ experience managing professional or administrative teams.
- Knowledge of the Higher Education Act, governance structures, quality assurance frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Experience supporting executive-level committees and governance processes.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, operational management, and financial management.
Recommended Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- A relevant Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9).
- Experience within a Faculty of Health Sciences or a similar academic environment.
- Knowledge of professional accreditation and regulatory requirements in Health Sciences.
- Experience in organisational change management, digital transformation, and business process improvement.
