This is a prestigious opportunity to lead and transform the administrative arm of the Free State Provincial Government. As Director-General, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and driving strategic governance initiatives that impact millions of lives in the province.
Position Details

Salary: SMS Level 16 – R2,259,984 per annum (all-inclusive package)

Additional Benefit: 10% non-pensionable Head of Department allowance

Contract Term: 5 years

Minimum Requirements
-
A postgraduate qualification (NQF level 8) as recognized by SAQA
-
At least 10 years of senior management experience
-
Completion of the SMS Pre-entry Certificate (NSG course)
-
Top Secret Security Clearance
-
Proven experience in strategic leadership, governance, and public administration
-
Strong communication, people management, and policy development skills
Key Competencies & Knowledge Areas

Sound knowledge of public service transformation, governance, and intergovernmental relations

In-depth understanding of Constitutional and legal frameworks

Excellent conceptual, analytical, conflict management, and interpersonal skills

High-level experience in budget control, HR, stakeholder engagement, and performance management
Core Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction and administrative leadership to the Office of the Premier

Oversee policy implementation, provincial planning, and public sector reform

Support the Premier and Cabinet in executing government programmes

Promote intergovernmental coordination, good governance, and inclusive development

Drive transformation, financial accountability, and talent development in the public sector
