Job Description
Grain Field Chickens is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Code 14 Driver to join its Dispatch Department at the Reitz Abattoir.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a medium motor vehicle to transport and deliver goods safely and efficiently to designated destinations. The role requires compliance with road traffic regulations, company operating procedures and safety standards, as well as accurate completion of delivery documentation.
The ideal candidate should have relevant driving experience, a valid driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP), good communication skills and the ability to manoeuvre vehicles safely in confined spaces.
4. Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and unscheduled deliveries and collections at designated locations as instructed by management.
Operate company vehicles in accordance with road traffic laws and commercial driving regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections according to company policies.
Ensure that all goods are properly secured before departure.
Check vehicle seals and locks upon arrival to ensure they have not been tampered with.
Ensure deliveries reach the correct recipients and obtain the required signatures.
Complete logbooks and delivery documentation accurately and in detail.
Follow loading and offloading procedures at company and customer premises.
Keep the assigned vehicle clean and ensure maintenance is carried out according to schedule.
Comply with Occupational Safety, Health, Environment and Quality requirements.
Maintain professional and respectful relationships with internal and external customers.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Work overtime, including Saturdays, when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
Code 10 driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP), as specified in the advertisement.
At least three years’ experience in a similar driving or dispatch role.
A clear criminal record.
Proven ability to manoeuvre, reverse and park vehicles in confined spaces.
Willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays when necessary.
Advantageous: Previous experience in the agricultural industry.
