Minimum Requirements
You must have one of the following qualifications and experience combinations:
Option 1 – Tertiary Route:
3-year Mechanical Engineering qualification (NQF Level 6)
Proven technical experience in mechanical maintenance (planned & unplanned)
Option 2 – Trade Route:
N3 Certificate + Trade Test in:
Fitter & Turner OR
Boiler OR
Millwright
3–5 years technical experience in the mechanical maintenance environment
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver’s licence
Computer literacy
Strong knowledge of:
Mechanical Regulations
PFMA (Public Finance Management Act)
OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
National Building Regulations
Environment Conservation Act
Government procurement systems
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Attend to planned and unplanned maintenance requests from client departments
Compile:
Scope of works
Technical reports
Cost estimates
Conduct inspections on:
Leased buildings
Mechanical equipment and installations
Water meters and municipal accounts (Monitor water usage)
Ensure:
Automatic sprinkler systems comply with ASIB (Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau) standards
All mechanical works and drawings meet OHSA requirements
Prepare tender documentation
Verify and certify contractor invoices
Manage property maintenance functions related to the mechanical discipline
Compile and submit monthly reports
