Tender Objective
The purpose of this Request for Quotation is to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced service provider to undertake solar conversion and electrical upgrade works at Oliewenhuis Art Museum and Florisbad Research Station.
The project aims to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability through the implementation of solar-powered and upgraded electrical lighting systems.
Scope of Work
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Electrical and Solar Works – Oliewenhuis

Removal and replacement of existing downlights, floodlights, and wiring
-
Installation of new LED lighting fixtures and solar floodlights
-
Wiring repairs and installation of new electrical cabling
-
Servicing and reinstallation of existing solar inverter systems
-
Supply and installation of:
-
4 × Cyclone 10kWh LiFePO4 batteries
-
6 × Canadian Solar 545W panels
-
-
Replacement of circuit breakers
-
Installation of motion-sensor solar floodlights
-
Provision of certificates of compliance
2. Electrical and Solar Works – Florisbad Research Station

Re-design of wiring from main power supply to inverter with day/night switching

Installation of solar and electrical cabling, including trenching and excavation

Installation of galvanized steel poles with concrete foundations

Installation of solar-powered street lighting
-
Design and installation of a solar power system supporting household energy loads

Installation of a solar-powered submersible borehole pump system

Installation of electric fencing where required

Provision of certificates of compliance
Technical Requirements
The successful bidder must demonstrate the ability to:

Design, install, test, and commission solar and electrical systems
-
Supply compliant materials and equipment as specified
-
Execute all works in accordance with relevant electrical, safety, and environmental standards

Skills, Compliance & Eligibility Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of:

Active registration as an electrical contractor
-
Proven experience in electrical and solar installations, supported by a minimum of five (5) reference letters with performance ratings

Qualified and registered electrical personnel (Electricians / Engineers), with CVs and qualifications

Valid CIDB grading (minimum 2EP/EB)

PV Green Card accreditation
-
Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD)

Tax compliance and valid BBBEE certification
-
Ability to issue Certificates of Compliance for completed works
