Job description:
The Nightshift Breakdown Clerk manages all vehicle breakdowns within the transport fleet during night operations. The role involves receiving breakdown calls from drivers, coordinating repair services, ensuring the fastest possible response, and accurately recording each incident. Strong communication, quick decision-making, and good organizational skills are essential to ensure the fleet stays operational and downtime is minimized.
Core Responsibilities:

Respond to driver breakdown calls and determine required assistance.

Dispatch mechanics, towing, or roadside help.

Communicate constantly with drivers and workshops.

Record breakdown details and manage related invoices.

Negotiate costs with service providers.

Monitor breakdown trends and report recurring issues.

Ensure compliance with safety and company procedures.
Requirements:

Matric (required); logistics/fleet qualification (advantage).

1–2 years in transport/logistics or similar environment.

Knowledge of vehicle repairs beneficial.

Strong communication, admin, problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle pressure and emergencies.

Microsoft Office and fleet system proficiency.
Qualifications & Experience

Matric / Grade 12 (essential).

Qualification in logistics, transport, or fleet management (advantage).

Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a transport or logistics environment.

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes (advantage).
