Job Description
As a Shop Assistant, you will create a welcoming and engaging shopping experience while supporting daily store operations. You will assist customers with product selection, promote sales, maintain stock levels, and ensure the store is visually appealing and well-organised.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Deliver personalised and friendly customer service
- Promote products, special offers, and loyalty programs
- Increase sales through upselling and link selling
- Perform professional makeovers and product demonstrations
- Handle customer queries and complaints effectively
Sales Performance
- Understand and contribute to store targets
- Focus on increasing basket size and average spend
- Actively participate in promotions and marketing campaigns
Stock Control & Merchandising
- Assist with stock takes and cycle counts
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO principle)
- Maintain clean, organised shelves and stockroom
- Report low stock levels and damages
Store Maintenance & Visual Merchandising
- Keep store clean, tidy, and visually appealing
- Follow visual merchandising standards
- Ensure testers and displays are hygienic and presentable
Operations & Compliance
- Follow Point of Sale (POS) and cash handling procedures
- Adhere to company policies and operational standards
- Participate in team meetings, training, and floor walks
- Support onboarding of new staff
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- Minimum 1 year retail experience
- Experience in beauty, skincare, or fragrance (advantage)
- Basic knowledge of Point of Sale systems & Microsoft Office (advantage)
