Job Description
Mediclinic Hoogland is looking for a Scanner Operator to join its Accounts Department in Bethlehem. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing discharged patient records for scanning, creating digital copies of patient documentation and ensuring the daily cleaning and maintenance of dedicated scanning equipment.
The role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and adherence to patient administration and information-protection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Records
- Collect discharged patient records for scanning.
- Prepare and organise patient records before scanning.
- Ensure records are complete and ready for digital processing.
Scanning
- Scan patient documentation accurately.
- Create and maintain digital copies of patient records.
- Use the required scanning software and equipment effectively.
- Ensure scanned documentation meets the required quality standards.
Scanner Maintenance
- Perform daily cleaning of the two dedicated scanners.
- Conduct routine maintenance as required.
- Report any equipment-related problems or issues.
Confidentiality & Compliance
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Follow patient administration policies and procedures.
- Comply with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act.
- Handle medical records responsibly and securely.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 is essential.
- No additional education is specified as desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an administrative role within a healthcare setting is essential.
- 2 years’ experience in a healthcare administrative role is advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates should have knowledge of:
- Administrative processes and procedures.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- The healthcare industry.

- NextImage scanning software.
