    Job Description

    The Pharmacist is responsible for managing the dispensary’s operations while delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring legal compliance, achieving operational and sales targets, and providing excellent customer service. The role supports Clicks’ vision of being the customer’s first choice in health and beauty retail through professional healthcare services and efficient dispensary management.

    Purpose of the Role

    To ensure:

    • Safe and accurate dispensing of medication.
    • Compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and SAPC requirements.
    • Excellent customer and patient care.
    • Efficient dispensary operations.
    • Achievement of business, sales, and healthcare targets.
    • Development and supervision of pharmacy support staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    Pharmaceutical Care and Dispensing

    • Dispense prescription medication accurately and safely.
    • Perform generic substitutions where appropriate.
    • Provide professional pharmaceutical advice and counselling.
    • Ensure compliance with:
      • Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
      • South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations
      • Relevant healthcare legislation
    • Deliver quality patient care and medication management services.

    Dispensary Operations

    • Manage daily dispensary activities.
    • Ensure proper stock control and inventory management.
    • Monitor and reduce shrinkage and stock losses.
    • Maintain housekeeping and administrative standards.
    • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

    Business and Target Management

    • Support the operational viability of the dispensary.
    • Achieve dispensary and clinic performance targets.
    • Contribute to sales growth and profitability.
    • Manage healthcare product availability and service delivery.

    Staff Development and Supervision

    • Supervise Pharmacist Assistants and Pharmacist Interns when required.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training.
    • Support staff development in accordance with SAPC requirements.
    • Promote a high-performance culture within the pharmacy team.

    Customer Service and Loyalty

    • Deliver exceptional customer service.
    • Build customer trust and loyalty.

    Stakeholder Management

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential Qualifications

    • Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

    Desirable Experience

    • Retail pharmacy experience.
    • Experience using Unisolve pharmacy management software.
