This role is designed for learners pursuing the basic pharmacist assistant course, providing hands-on training and experience under the supervision of a pharmacist. Permanent employment is offered after successful registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Job Description
As a Dispensary Support staff member, you will:
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing Schedule 1 medicines and other scheduled substances.
- Help with the compounding, preparation, and packaging of non-sterile medicines under SOPs.
- Maintain dispensary and OTC shelves, including stock control and expiry date monitoring.
- Accurately pick, pack, label, and check medications, ensuring pharmacist verification.
- Support patient interactions, including follow-ups and call centre queries.
- Assist with chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication scheme authorisations.
- Receive and organise stock according to company SOPs.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
- Mathematics (≥50%) and Life Science or Physical Science (average ≥50%)
- Must pass the proficiency test to register as a learner basic assistant with SAPC
