Introduction / Purpose of the Role:
Our client, a leader in South Africa’s private healthcare industry, is urgently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) / Professional Nurse (PN) to take on the role of Hospital Unit Manager in a High Care unit. This role is based at a private hospital in Welkom and is ideal for an experienced nurse ready to lead a dynamic, patient-focused team.
As a Unit Manager, you will oversee a high-acuity unit, ensuring safe and quality patient care, optimizing processes, and managing staff and resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Main Purpose:
Manage a specific nursing unit to ensure safe patient care, high clinical standards, and positive patient experience, while effectively managing staff and resources.
Core Duties:

Ensure adherence to clinical quality standards and company policies.

Identify, manage, and mitigate clinical risks in the unit.

Lead and manage nursing staff within the unit.

Manage operational and capital expenses in line with budget guidelines.

Ensure optimal resource utilization.

Enhance patient satisfaction and address complaints.
-
Collaborate to achieve interdepartmental outcomes.

Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:

Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse (PN).

One of the following:
-
A Professional Nurse qualification + Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management or Accredited Management Qualification, OR

At least 5 years of leadership experience in a hospital + Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (required if managing a specialist unit).

Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years as a Professional Nurse in a hospital setting.

Minimum 2 years in a leadership role in a hospital.
Knowledge / Competencies:

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement
