Job Purpose

The purpose of this contract is to appoint a qualified steel supplier to supply and deliver steel products to Lethabo Power Station over a five-year period. The objective is to ensure continuous availability of compliant, high-quality steel materials to support Eskom’s operational, maintenance, and construction activities.

Scope of Work

The appointed supplier will be responsible for:

• Supplying and delivering various steel products, including:

  • Bars

  • Plates

  • Sheets

  • Angles

  • Channels

  • Structural steel components

• Deliveries to be made as and when required in line with Eskom purchase orders

• Packaging, marking, and transportation of all steel products

• Coordination of delivery schedules with Eskom representatives

• Compliance with Eskom-issued drawings, standards, and specifications

• Provision of material test certificates and compliance documentation

Technical Requirements

• Steel materials must comply with applicable standards, including:

  • MS BS 4360

  • EN standards

  • ASTM standards

  • Other Eskom-referenced specifications

• Materials must be:

  • New and merchantable

  • Free from defects

  • Suitable for industrial and power station applications

• Certification requirements:

  • Test and material certificates

  • Certificates of Compliance

  • BS EN 10204 / 3.2 certification where required

• Goods must be clearly labeled with:

  • Purchase order number

  • Description and part number

  • Batch or serial number

  • Date of manufacture

• Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) may be required and witnessed by Eskom engineers

• Compliance with Eskom safety, environmental, and delivery procedures

Skills & Competency Requirements

The supplier must demonstrate:

• Experience in steel procurement and industrial supply

• Strong logistics and supply chain management capability

• Knowledge of steel grades, specifications, and quality standards

• Ability to compile and submit full quality and certification documentation

• Experience in packaging and handling heavy steel components

• Compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations

• Capacity to manage inspections, reporting, and contractual compliance
