    Job Overview

    The Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the full operational function of The Courier Guy’s depot in Bloemfontein. This role ensures the smooth, efficient, and safe movement of parcels through the warehouse—covering everything from staff management and scheduling to freight handling, scanning accuracy, dispatch timing, and equipment upkeep.

    You will lead the depot team, uphold operational standards, maintain strict health and safety compliance, and ensure that all parcels are correctly sorted, scanned, packed, and dispatched on time. The role requires strong leadership, effective communication, excellent planning skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage daily warehouse and kiosk operations.

    • Prepare weekly staff schedules and ensure proper staffing.

    • Monitor staff punctuality, uniform compliance, and workstation allocation.

    • Train staff in correct packing, palletising, and warehouse procedures.

    • Enforce cleaning, maintenance, and health & safety standards.

    • Oversee loading, offloading, sorting, scanning, and dispatch processes.

    • Ensure all freight is ready for dispatch before cut-off times.

    • Manage airline lodging for overnight freight and communicate with airline agents.

    • Ensure linehauls depart on time with necessary verification.

    • Maintain accurate documentation, including waybills and manifests.

    • Handle damaged freight, repacking, and system updates (e.g., Ship Logic).

    • Manage route sorting and resolve misrouted parcels.

    • Complete daily equipment, vehicle, and forklift checks.

    • Report any faulty equipment immediately.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).

    • Courier industry experience (advantageous).

    • Computer literate.

    • Valid driver’s licence + own reliable transport.

    • Proven management/leadership experience.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.

    • Excellent time management and planning.

    • Good communication skills (verbal & written).

    • Ability to work well under pressure.

    • Dependable, adaptable, and highly organised.
