Tender Overview
ESKOM invites qualified contractors to submit bids for structural repairs to the top rim of the South Smokestack at Grootvlei Power Station.
The appointed contractor will ensure the integrity, safety, and longevity of the smoke stack through professional structural repair works.
Project Objective
- Conduct structural repairs to the top rim of the South Smokestack
- Ensure compliance with safety and technical standards
- Leverage experienced contractors with proven capabilities

Scope of Work
- Planning, execution, and completion of structural repairs
- Submission of method statements, organograms, and risk assessments
- Compliance with technical specifications and safety requirements
- Coordination with ESKOM and site teams
- Demonstration of relevant project experience and capability
Technical Requirements
- Valid CIDB grading 7GB for concrete works
- Provision of CVs and qualifications of:
- Professional Civil Engineer (Pr Eng / Pr Tech) – 7+ years post-registration
- SACPCMP Construction Manager – 7+ years post-registration
- Detailed method statement outlining methodology, constraints, H&S, equipment, quality control, and responsibilities
- Project organogram with qualified resources
- Risk assessment addressing environmental and safety risks with mitigation measures
- Proof of completion for 5 similar projects in the past 5 years
Skills & Experience Required
- Civil Engineer (Pr Eng / Pr Tech) – 7+ years post-registration experience
- SACPCMP Construction Manager – 7+ years post-registration experience
- Experienced project team for structural and concrete repair works
- Ability to prepare detailed technical proposals, method statements, and risk assessments
- Strong project management skills, including resource planning, safety, and quality assurance
