Objective
To appoint a qualified service provider to conduct random drug testing, post-incident drug testing, and drug awareness training for employees and contractors within Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM) across South Africa. This is aimed at ensuring a safe, drug-free workplace, complying with occupational health and safety standards.
Scope of Work
The appointed service provider will be responsible for:
1. Random Drug Testing

Conducted at TRIM depots and sub-depots nationally

Urine and saliva testing
-
Screening for drugs such as:
-
Cocaine
-
Opiates
-
PCP
-
Others as specified
-
2. Post-Incident Drug Testing
-
Conducted after workplace incidents/accidents
-
Must be performed within required timeframes
3. Awareness Training
-
Drug abuse awareness training
-
Education on workplace safety and drug policies
-
Training for employees, supervisors, and relevant staff
4. Sample Handling & Reporting
-
Proper chain of custody procedures
-
SANAS-accredited laboratory testing
-
Timely reporting of results
-
Waste management of medical waste generated during testing
Technical Requirements
The service provider must demonstrate:

Use of SANAS-accredited laboratories
-
Confirmatory testing using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy)

Saliva-based screening equipment for six drugs
-
Chain of custody for legal defensibility
-
Turnaround time for lab results within 48–96 hours

Qualified registered nurses for sample collection

National deployment capability across multiple locations

National coverage including (but not limited to):

Gauteng, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West

Major towns and depots such as:

Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Richards Bay, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Kimberley, and many more.
