Legal Administration Officer REF NO: FSPT 021/25
The Free State Provincial Treasury seeks a qualified legal professional to serve as a Legal Administration Officer. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance, support compliance with public sector legislation, and manage legal risks in the department. The role is essential in ensuring that the department’s operations remain within legal frameworks and are aligned with national policies and Treasury regulations.

- Salary:
Grade 3–5: R324 579 – R1 111 323 per annum, basic salary (based on post-qualification legal experience in accordance with the OSD [Occupation Specific Dispensation] Determination).
Responsibilities:

Identify legal capacity gaps and promote awareness of the Legal Management Framework.

Provide ongoing legal advice and support in the implementation of legal frameworks and policies.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on legal matters.

Draft and review legal documents, including service level agreements.

Monitor legal compliance and application of laws and policies within the department.

Serve as a presiding officer during disciplinary hearings.

Manage human resources within the legal division to ensure effective legal service delivery.
Qualifications:
-
An LLB degree or equivalent/recognized four-year law degree.

A minimum of 2 years post-qualification legal experience.

Knowledge of:
-
Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
-
Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA)
-
Treasury Regulations
-
Public Service Regulations and related legislation

Skills required: Legal analysis, drafting, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership.

Must be computer literate.

A valid driver’s license is required.
