Position Overview
Rosebank College, part of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer for the Postgraduate Diploma in Security Management.
The role involves delivering lectures, supporting student learning, managing module administration, and assisting with assessment development. The lecturer will track student engagement and module performance, providing targeted support to at-risk students while contributing to academic development and professional teaching practice.
This position is ideal for experienced lecturers or tutors with industry knowledge in Security Management, Security Science, Risk Management, or Operations Management.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Student Support

Deliver lectures according to module-specific requirements and module pacers

Track student progress and engagement

Identify and support at-risk students
-
Prepare students for assessments and provide feedback

Monitor assessment submissions and escalate issues where required

Assist Programme Coordinator in evaluating module performance
Academic Administration
-
Manage academic resources and liaise with the Information Centre

Update Learning Management System (LMS) and provide student feedback
-
Attend academic meetings across faculties
-
Reflect on and analyse student module results
-
Support part-time lecturers and academic staff as needed
Professional Development

Complete academic professional development interventions per academic cycle

Contribute to the improvement of Teaching-Learning practices

Maintain personal professional academic status
Minimum Requirements
-
Master’s degree in Security Management, Security Science, Risk Management, or Operations Management
-
2–3 years of lecturing or formal tutoring experience

1–3 years of industry-specific experience advantageous

Qualification at least one NQF level higher than the modules taught
