Job Description
The Long Haul Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of bakery products in bulk or bagged form to assigned customers. The role requires ensuring that all deliveries are completed without driver-related product defects while maintaining high standards of vehicle care, safety, and compliance with company policies and road regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver products promptly to designated customers.

Ensure all deliveries are completed without driver-related defects or damage.

Maintain fuel consumption within the agreed standards.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including tyres, lights, trailer couplings, oil, and water levels.

Keep the truck in good condition, including cleanliness and proper bodywork maintenance.

Report any mechanical defects and ensure zero breakdowns where possible.

Perform initial fault finding in case of vehicle breakdowns, including changing tyres when necessary.

Ensure a working cellphone is available during trips.

Adhere to road safety regulations and maintain zero speed or traffic fines.

Ensure the safety of the vehicle and follow safe driving practices, including regular safety inspection stops.

Ensure all issued equipment and spare wheels are accounted for and not missing.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric).

Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence.

Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Long Haul Driver.

Advanced Driver Training Certification will be an advantage.
