     Job Purpose

    The Assistant Information Specialist supports the management and delivery of library and information services to students, both on-campus and online. The role involves maintaining collections of books, journals, digital resources, and other materials, assisting students with research, and promoting ethical scholarship and information literacy.

     Key Responsibilities

    Library & Information Services

    • Assist at the circulation desk (issuing, renewing, and returning loans).

    • Handle daily newspapers and journals, including scanning and clipping relevant content.

    • Shelve books and perform shelf reading to maintain order.

    • Ensure all equipment (computers, printers, copiers) is functional.

    • Assist students with OPAC searches and using computers.

    • Conduct information literacy workshops for students.

    • Prepare and mount information displays and update notice boards.

    Administrative & Clerical Support

    • Support the Information Specialist with photocopying, checking subject guides, and database worksheets.

    • Assist during workshops and research sessions.

    • Ensure the Information Centre is neat, professional, and organized.

    Other Responsibilities

    • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

    • Promote academic integrity and ethical use of information resources.

     Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science

    • Minimum 1-year relevant experience, preferably in an academic information centre
