     Job Purpose

    To develop academic material and lecture in allocated subjects for own and other programs while executing relevant community projects. This post is part of the New Generation of Academics (nGAP) initiative under the Staffing South Africa’s Universities Framework (SSAUF).

     Main Responsibilities

    Teaching & Learning

    • Deliver lectures in Media Theory, Journalism, Media Design, Photography & Videography, Media Liaison.

    • Assess and evaluate student performance.

    • Develop academic materials and learning resources.

    Research & Innovation

    • Conduct research aligned with academic and community needs.

    • Publish scholarly or creative outputs in relevant fields.

    Administration & Organization

    • Perform administrative tasks related to teaching and departmental responsibilities.

    • Ensure effective classroom management and student support.

    Community Service

    • Execute appropriate community engagement projects.

    • Promote knowledge transfer and outreach activities.

     Minimum Qualification & Experience

    • Master’s-level degree (MTech/MSc/NQF 9) in Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.

    • Average of 70% or above in the highest degree.

    • At least 2 years teaching/lecturing or industry experience relevant to the subject area.

     Desired Qualification & Experience

    • Progress towards a Doctorate degree.

    • Recognized publication, research, innovation, or creative output.
