Clinvet South Africa, a globally recognised animal health research organisation, is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Assistant and Cleaner to join its team in Bloemfontein.
The successful candidate will support the Animal Facility Operations and Study Support Department by maintaining clean animal facilities and assisting with daily animal care. The role involves feeding animals, ensuring they have access to water, and handling different types of animals while maintaining high standards of hygiene and animal welfare.

Job Description
The Animal Care Assistant and Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the animal facility while assisting with daily animal care activities.
The role includes cleaning animal housing areas, stores, and equipment, as well as ensuring that animals receive appropriate food and water. The successful candidate will interact with and handle animals such as dogs, cats, rodents, and farm animals, ensuring their comfort and proper care.
Additional duties include managing animal feed storage, maintaining environmental enrichment items, and recording relevant data to support departmental operations. Attention to detail and adherence to facility procedures are essential to ensure the accuracy of records and the welfare of the animals.
Key Responsibilities

Clean animal facilities, stores, and equipment to maintain hygiene standards.

Provide food and water to animals to ensure proper care and well-being.

Interact with and handle different types of animals.

Handle, stack, and store animal feed safely.

Record and manage data for accurate departmental information.

Maintain and replace environmental enrichment items.

Replenish facility consumables and equipment as required.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) with 3 years of relevant experience, or
-
A relevant qualification with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Experience in caring for and handling dogs, cats, rodents, and farm animals.

Ability to confidently handle different types of animals.
-
Passion for animals and strong animal care awareness.
-
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.
